What is Candy?
Candy is a rich sweet confection made with sugar or other sweeteners and often flavored combined with fruits or nuts. Candy can be used with any type of sweet dishes such as: fruits, ice cream, or even pastries served at the end of the day.
The history of candy goes way back to ancient people who snacked on honey right out of the bees hive.the first candy confections were fruits and nuts rolled in honey. Sugar was manufactured during the middle ages. During that time period sugar was expensive and only rich people were able to purchase candy made of sugar. In 1915 Cacao also known as Chocolate was re-discovered by Spanish explorers in Mexico.
By the 17th century the price of manufacturing sugar was much cheaper when hard candy became popular. In the mid-1800's there were over 400 factories in the United States that were producing candy.
